Whether you are boiling an egg for personal, commercial reasons or for a family breakfast, you have to do it right. Eggs are rich in protein and most people make them part of their breakfast. Eggs can either be fried or boiled depending on ones preference. In this case, you are going to learn how to boil an egg well. If you are probably thinking that it’s easy to boil an egg because all you need is a cooking pan, a source of heat and some water. Then you are wrong, there is more to boiling an egg than you think. Using these informative and educational tips on how to boil an egg, you can now say goodbye to, shredded boiled eggs and green coloring around the yolk.

The requirements

Eggs.

A saucepan.

A stove or any source of heat.

Water.

What is an egg?

If you have not been taking eggs then you have been missing out on various nutrients important from your body. An egg is a source of protein that offers an array of benefits to our bodies. There are different kinds of eggs and all of them have different protein levels as well as boiling points. The kinds of eggs you are likely to find in the market are: jumbo, large, extra, medium and small.

Main Types of eggs

The two main types of eggs available in the market today are hard and soft eggs. A hard egg takes quite sometimes before it boils compared to a soft egg.

What are the nutrients provided by eggs?

The egg is very nutritious; Eggs have a white part and the yellow part which is the yolk. Most of the nutrients are found on the yolk of the egg and that is why when boiling, you need to avoid overcooking it.

Why you need to boil eggs correctly

Boiling an egg is not an easy affair as very many people regard it. It may seem like a simple thing to do but its not if you do not have the right procedure. When boiling an egg badly you might get that rubbery texture and may not be enjoyed. Instead of subjecting your eggs to the boiling bubbly water, you need to treat your egg with gentle heat. Most people go wrong here when boiling eggs. Whether you are boiling that hard or soft egg you will need these instructions.

Procedure of boiling a hard egg

Place your eggs on a saucepan and cover them with some cold water, do not add anything else like salt.

Place them on the burner and turn it to high heat.

Once the eggs start boiling turn your cooker timer to three minutes.

As soon as the timer goes off turn off the heat and cover using the lid and reset your cookers timer to eight minutes

After the eight minutes are done, run some cold water on the eggs for one minute, once they are soaked off for a while put then in the refrigerator for half an hour if you want them to peel off nicely.

By doing this you will not see any trace of a gray yolk.

How to boil a soft egg

Soft eggs offer that great breakfast, they are easy to boil uisng great recipes. For a soft egg to offer you that great taste, you need to ensure that it is cooked well and does not turn gray inside. Here are some tips on how to go about boiling the soft eggs.

Use medium sized pan to boil the eggs, start by placing the eggs on the pan, and ensure that the water has covered the eggs.

Cover the eggs completely and place the pan or pot on the stove or cooker to high heat

You now need to constantly keep checking when the water starts boiling.

Once the water boils you should turn down the heat to a medium, continue boiling the eggs for ten minutes.

Your cooker timer will come in handy when boiling these eggs perfectly. Once the ten minutes are over you need to remove them from the cooker so that they cannot turn gray or even crack.

Once you have removed the eggs from the cooker, drain the hot water. Run some cold water on the eggs.

Add some water on the cooking pan with the eggs fully covered for fifteen to twenty minutes.

You can now crack the Shells open. If the yolks are yellow, then your soft egg has been boiled completely.

How to peel

First you need to crack the shell on both sides.

Let them stay in cool water for fifteen minutes.

Run the end on cold water and squeeze to gently to crack.

Roll the shell between your fingers, it will slip off.
